Should I do it? The first two chapters grabbed me, but at nearly 1000 pages, the road ahead is daunting.

ngl i didn’t like it i generally do not think murakami is a great fiction writer it’s the same themes, symbols, mythology, and parallel timeline that meets or crosses at some point in the book structure for at least two of his books (this one and kafka on the shore)

Interesting thank you. I have only read colourless taukuru tazaki, and I loved it, but I admit that might have been partly due to the novelty of such a distinct style. I’ve had similar experiences with other authors (Douglas Coupland, Tom Robbins, Chuck Palahniuk)…

it’s very fun imo the first run through. any of those books, but yes it does get tiring unless you’re totally cool with that and just want some junk food reading 😁 then this is totally fine. maybe a bit too long tbh if that’s what you want
