It would be tragic but beautiful if we were trying to agree. If we were trying to find truth but failing because we come from different places. But we’re not, so it’s just tragic. We’re trying to be seen as right, so we don’t even notice we’ve given up on the truth.

If you deprive a tree of water, sunshine, nutrients, it lawfully withers and dies. It cannot help it. If you provide the tree plenty of water, sunshine, and nutrients, it lawfully grows and thrives. It cannot help it. As a part of nature, the same is true for you and your needs.

why do all the superhero movies have active multiverses now? is it to maintain loyalty to the characters even if the actors leave? I don't think it's about a real preference for multiversal plots

“People protect their egos by not branching out into the unfamiliar, even if it would be better” strongly fails the common sense test. Obviously people do want to live better lives, no?

actually really fair criticism of the need to Arc things in rust for userspace threading. Rust still demonstrably faster though so what gives? https://bitbashing.io/async-rust.html

The max focused work (not rote stuff) I can do is 2 hours at a time, 3 times a day, for a total of 6 hours. After that it gets counterproductive. That level of self-knowledge feels so fucking good to have.

Von Neumann’s often referred to as the smartest person to have ever lived but I had no idea he was this scary smart. He crushed every field he touched. Nothing but net. https://www.privatdozent.co/p/the-unparalleled-genius-of-john-von-beb

Cringe’s intellectual destructiveness is highly underrated. It takes arbitrary negative signals and entrenches them to isolate the less socially aware. Good for your ancestors trying to form bonds, bad for being open-minded.

As a zk newb, I was surprised to see STARKs with a verifier complexity of O(polylog(n)). Why is this not a problem for STARK-based scalability solutions? @dcbuilder? https://i.imgur.com/kRQqwE8.png

I’m starting a beginner’s mind club. It’s like a book club but more. Yes, we’ll read (fundamentals like Selfish Gene, Hayek). But we’ll also write essays on new topics and share them, do assignments in the real world that are socially challenging, learn probability at a deeper level, and more. Reply for m
