I think YC's biggest value prop is making "boring" startups sound interesting to prospective employees. For example: "Come build a platform for global logistics" vs "Come join a YC startup building a platform for global logistics"

Fwiw i think this value prop was well earned through their consistency in backing teams working in grudgy problem spaces that ended up building really exciting products
