I think the filter for thiel fellows may be appropriately exclusive given the nature of the program. But I think a Silicon Valley “native” program could provide an alternative to traditional 4 year secondary edu Eg Stanford and manage to solve the prestige-scaling problem.

Thiel is for < 25 per year. YC is a 3 month factory. Stanford is great. Double the size. And make it free.

I think one of my more radical takes is that the thiel fellowship didn’t go far enough and someone (thiel, andreesen etc) should just build a Silicon Valley enmeshed high prestige credentialing option for college aged kids.

E.g. a few months ago, being aware of langchain seemed like some kind of alpha. But by now it's no longer narrowly known that the project is promising. So thats a case where my mental-drift (ugh thats terrible) from the mainstream was ~3 months.
