Wrote a small post this week that makes an oversimplified/slightly obvious point, but which nevertheless i think is important and underappreciated: war for user attention is zero sum.

one exception (which raises frustrating degree of nuance): attention budgets are probably different depending on the platform. I personally have an attention "surplus" on mobile. I could probably spend it on a mobile-suited AI assistant...

Main motivation for writing this is that I've been thinking about limits on our adoption of new AI powered tools.

In a nutshell, i'm bullish on:
- GPT-powered substitutes of existing functions.
- Agents operating in the background.
- Desktop and browser extensions.

But bearish on: 
- assistant apps
- search engines
