Are people here running Ubiquiti? I like having a single vendor for my networking stack. The only alt. i know of is MicroTik. Not a fan of the MT ui tho.

If Ubiquity is the only legit option for _very good_ single vendor home lab networking.

i would say so. however their management software feels too dumbed down (apple style) and annoying in some cases. few examples: - no way to see internal bandwidth stats - can't prioritize devices in QoS when it comes to packets, you can only limit bandwidth - mobile app for cameras doesn't work without remote access

- when firewall / traffic identification is enabled your throughput gets cut pretty hard (you'd expect full 10G but the new UDM gets throttled to 5Gbps) - unifi network mobile app has more (often crucial for configuration) options than the damn web interface... - you need remote access enabled to get mobile push notifs

keeping remote access disabled because this was too big of a mistake imo. if i want to access the UDM externally, i have tailscale running on the network. if i want to see camera feeds, i have them securely piped into home assistant / homekit. https://www.theregister.com/2023/12/15/ubiquiti_camera_privacy/

however i'm very happy with the setup despite some things not working when all their cloud stuff is disabled. network has been rock solid. cameras work great. hoping for a more powerful UDM that can do full 10G throughput soon.

this has always been my biggest concern with ui. i heard they had engineering turnover and that their hardcore engineering and security practices have declined.
