needed to cool a new samsung NVMe on the mobo and figured i might just add more airflow altogether since i had some fans lying around

if it gets hot in the first place it means the fans have failed you.
...so what ever happens next is on them

oh interesting. i wonder if it would be enough air pressure to make a difference with that gap in my case

One thing I've done in the past is take the expansion slot covers (which are usually L shaped), attach the short side of L to interior of the chassis (image right) so that it extends out over where you have the fans now. Then can attach the fans so they're suspended within the chassis without need for glue
