LA is unfortunately so nice and pleasant If there was a great transit system instead of the freeways I’d live out here in a hot second

You’re under some spell… food out west is a hot mid with some gems few and far between. Nothing comprehensive and too many truly garbage places. NYC and Chicago for food… not even close.

LA is fantastic and they are working on the light rail system! just taking a while- this is the latest plan I’ve seen (can dream) I think the Culver City line and a few others already exist too

I had this weird preconceived notion of LA as being this dirty, gross city, probably from TV and movies I guess, I was shell shocked at how beautiful Venice Beach is why I went for Farcon.

you end up choosing a bubble and not leaving it. It’s a pretty good deal. All things considered. The traffic is overblown imo unless you have a mandatory commute and choose to live far from the office.

As a European thats been here half a decade or so, it still grates. We are the states in microcosm, all on our own island of the saved, waving banners of notional unity (and keeping uber viable). Looks like the Olympic notion of car free has become get on a bus. So might remain that way.

Find a neighborhood and dig in and just walk, it’s totally possible in many different neighborhoods inside of LA. You don’t have to live in one and commute to work in another. Try Venice, Highland Park, Mar Vista, DTLA, happy to talk through the nuance and help share the way. To be at the beach, Mountains and desert all within under 2 hours is pretty special for the soul
