I don't own farcats or farcaster OGs in part because I arrived after they launched, didn't know their creators or understand the significance. 

definitely assume pure collectible vibes, and that Merkle won't touch them, but I do think wrapping is a real possibility. Individuals might wrap, turn them into derivatives

where do you see fair value? and what if you assume Merkle will not touch the project again, but a new replacement project won't get enough burns to become cultly significant?

A new project that requires the OG to burn can quickly evolve it.

But that's the unrelevaled and the Metadata will update to show a unique nft....
