When it comes to world design, what do you prefer? Open world, linear world or branching linear world? If it was in my hands... I would ban every developer from doing open world games. I can't think of a single game other than Outer Wilds where the open world actually added anything to the game...

I would not ban it entirely. In some games the freedom of choice was great. Rdr with a linear World would not be as good as it was. Kinda limited like the old assasins creed games would work for most

Agree there, the problem is when everyone tries to do it just because it becomes popular. But noone knows how to do it 🥹 In gaming I have learnt that most of the times, more is not better. Compact polished games are so much better for me 20 $degen

Yes. One of my prime examples would be the snes gem terranigma. You have a semi yet little open World that is only for traveling. The game is in restricted areas and the delivery is just awesome Also thanks!

Is this kinda like the early final fantasy worlds? Where you travel through the world, but then enter on small areas where the stuff actually happen.
