$200 gas fee for bridging funds from Ethereum to Base. Is it scalable? This is the most hated thing I have heard about EVM chains. Solution? Social Swaps - use your social graph, post a swap request frame, have someone fulfill it on the other chain. You will only pay transfer fees on one chain. That's it.

prefer just transferring via cex - less dependencies and find it cheaper to do with just sends if you ONLY have crypto onchain, no access to a central exchange, that means you are the coolest person on earth tbh

Fair point - CEX is always cheaper and easier, but many countries, including my native country India, have very strict laws and taxes on using CEX. I feel this could be really helpful for someone like that to save a ton of bridge fees by leveraging their social circle. And yes, 99% of my money is on-chain! 😆

have you seen hop.exchange? i use this more than any bridge. of course it doesn't have EVERY chain but it covers some basic ground. it's an easy place for people to provide liquidity & send themselves tokens across networks. i kinda forget if fee's are that bad or not - i just use it because it's fast
