Starting a series: Post a picture of something from your culture! 📸 This picture is of me and my mom from the festival Teej that is celebrated in Nepal. During Teej, Women dress up in red saris, red bangles, and traditional jewelry observing a strict fast, dancing and singing to folk music.

This fast is often without food and water, praying for the longevity of their husbands or, for unmarried women, for a good husband in the future. Married women often visit their maternal homes to celebrate Teej and it was my first Teej after getting married. :)

Even though it feels ridiculous having to attend a lot of parties during this festival, I can't deny that I also love the paradigm of Teej having shifted these days from being a festival of fasting for men to women enjoying for themselves.

Amazing to see how we women now care less about the fasting part and more about being happy! ✨
