Notice how Alawites formed almost the entire leadership of the Syrian Arab Army under Assad. Once again, we see why these modern Arab militaries suck. All their officer corps are nepotistic and not meritocratic. Bashar wasn't holding off Israel from Syria at all.

Richtig. Wehrpflicht ist volkswirtschaftlicher Wahnsinn. Ganz abgesehen vom Konzept der zeitlich begrenzten Sklaverei (ohne adäquates Entgelt arbeiten zu müssen nennt man so) schadet es durch Entzug der produktiven Menschen aus der Wirtschaft dem Staat massiv.
