Outside of a non-benevolent despot, plutocratic token voting is literally the worst form of "governance". So, it's the other way round, DAOs should study and adopt better forms of governance from the real world w/ a millennia of innovation. See: Optimism for some inspiration, but IMO we can go a lot further than that.

Imo, DAO innovation is the deciding factor how serious the project is about governance. Purely token, meh, they are interested in diluting token, most L2s of now except Optimism like you have mentioned

Why is it wrong for economic systems to be plutocratic? Why would you want a democratic group making economic decisions? In principle a plutocratic system makes a lot of sense for something like a defi protocol, the issue arises when the voting token is an illiquid and un-investable asset that can be subject to easy capture

Those with the biggest bags hold the most power is how politics works now in the real world, and it doesn't seem to be working very well.

Interesting thought. I was always arguing that regular companies governance can learn a lot from Optimism. I guess my point is that the government and organization governance are slightly different. Could be an interesting debate though.

1 step at a time! The current incentives sadly don’t line up with better forms of governance. Industry learning the hard way first.

Yep best thing about layer 2’s is that they can innovate and that’s not just technically but in governance as well. Evolution at its finest.
