There are some places I agree with this (protocol design with an eye towards compliance/net positive outcomes), but there are places I disagree due to current regulatory regime behaviors (and the fact I can't even clarify this further shows how utterly broken things are).

Good call @polynya, but the other end of the spectrum (accountability for software) is pretty terrifying - just ask Alexey Pertsev (the Tornado Cash dev)..

Devs should embed ethical frameworks, but the culpability for using a tool falls on users, and they should be held accountable. But doing so is untenable, thus courts settle on devs to shoulder the sins of their users. Scapegoated. And regardless, 64 months is a hell of a bid. Especially when you got young children.
