At my brother's house recently, and his vinyl collection (and nook) got me thinkin' about the album—and especially the *concept* album—and how the vinyl record really is the perfect format for it. https://berens.co/rebirth-of-the-album.html

Just finished Dave Eggers' "The Eyes and the Impossible" with our five-year-old. Even though some of the language was a reach for him, it was a lot of fun. It's the story of a dog named Johannes, a free and very fast dog, who lives in an urban park by the sea, and who every day runs through it, seeing all, missing nothing, and reporting back to the park’s three ancient Bison, the Keepers of the Equilibrium. But the Equilibrium has been disrupted...dun, dun, dun. They released a deluxe wood-bound hardcover alongside the regular one, so get your hands on the former—though I believe they've got a backlog since winning this year's Newbery Medal. https://berens.co/book/the-eyes-and-the-impossible/

Anyone else's kids spontaneously bursting into Christmas song this first of July? 🎵 Jingle bell, jingle bell, jingle bell rock...🎶 (May indicate the need to dial things back this December.)

Since I've been on the Farcaster train for two years now, I felt compelled to jot down some disorganized thoughts...for an audience that's admittedly less sophisticated than you https://berens.co/farcaster.html

Hey All, looking for /recommendations for venues here in SF to host a bday party for my wife (milestone birthday) in September. Have you been to any gatherings—whether at bars, restaurant party rooms, parks/outdoor spaces, etc.—that you've thought of the venue "this is pretty great"?

Really enjoyed Read Write Own, @cdixon.eth—a lot of insight packed 200+ pages. Questions I'm wondering about now: 1. Can blockchain networks overcome their "cold start problem" (as Andrew Chen puts it) in markets where there are aggressive, deep-pocketed corporate incumbents who can undercut them and wage a price war for a prolonged period? Perhaps this is where venture comes into play? Should entrants target niches to avoid this corporate competition (i.e., instead of web3 Uber or web3 Airbnb, focus on carving out new markets per "1k true fans" concept)? 2. Is blockchain viable long-term, cryptographically? Can it stay ahead of quantum computing and its ability to hack it (i.e., can it be quantum resistant)? 3. With deep fakes already here, there’s a clear need for identity verification and attestation, but is there a place for pseudonymity in other areas of web3 digital life? https://berens.co/book/read-write-own/

These broccoli tots were a hit with the five- and two-year-olds. (And I'll throw in a general vote for this yummytoddlerfood.com: lots of good recipes and recipe ideas even for us relatively inept cooks.) https://www.yummytoddlerfood.com/broccoli-tots/

"The Greatest Night in Pop" (about the creation of "We Are the World") is a fun little documentary. Interesting how it all came together...and in some ways almost didn't. https://youtu.be/MD3oU1gowu4?si=NWhSO9PGDwxBW9_l
