Mark mentioned that you rarely care about messages disappearing for previous conversations and that it's a good mechanism for privacy, makes it easier for decentralized social dms to catch up https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7k1ehaE0bdU&list=WL&index=6&t=6567s

Ok so there was a lot of eye rolling from me watching this, but one thing I thought was interesting was the part where he mentions DeepSeek, Chinas leading AI system. He mentions if you ask it to tell you anything negative about Chinas President it gives you “no response”…

…this gave me the idea to go on and ask it all kinds of questions about Trump, and the responses were eye opening.

What did you get? Given non-chinese OSS models, I'd choose those everytime (and fortunately we are entering a world where there are plenty of high quality MIT licecned models emerging). These things are such black boxes, building anything on a foundation of "god knows what" it terrifying. It's terrifying even when it's not emerging from a (potential) adversary.

Well a lot, far more than I could type here, when I asked it to give me its negative opinions on Trump it gave me a very political vague answer. Same thing when I asked if his first term was a success…

… when I asked it if Trump had desires to expand US territory. It mentioned Trumps jokes that could be taken out of context. When I asked it to elaborate it mentioned Greenland and then said that ChatGPT isn’t designed to provide this type of content…

…when I asked it for similarities and differences between Trumps rise to power and Hitlers it had A LOT to say however. It warned that this was a nuanced topic and suggested that it wasn’t relevant. But it listed a long list of similarities that felt very relevant to me.

"It warned that this was a nuanced topic" That's good... but if it's actually a "not relevant, these are not the droids you are looking for" Jedi mind trick, then not so much. Farout this stuff is getting interesting...deep dark rock pools of generative potentialities, potentially laiden with human imposed political inhibiters at higher levels. The US models (like OpenAI) are cucked as well...but I trust the political leanings of the US companies more (for now)...but by gum, this is some "brave new world" shit we are wandering in to, eh?!

Ya I found it interesting that it said that Trumps threats of expanding into Canada, Mexico, or elsewhere were “not credible” and that his “jokes or offhand remarks might be taken out of context by critics”. When I asked for examples of the “jokes” it could not provide them but simply mentioned Greenland
