@anco brings up of my Japan pet peeves. Coffee in Japan is fabulous and reasonably priced but really hard to get before 10 AM in most places. I rely on conbini coffee (convenience store) coffee and canned coffee because I have no choice and I’m definitely starting to have favorites:

Family Mart has great iced coffee. The milk is more like cream and it feels decadent. They also have flavored sugar you can add. 

Lawson and 7/11 have pretty decent machine coffee. 7/11 has a slight edge because they have a darker roast I really like.

I love the 7/11 Açaí one but I rarely see it!

I can't drink coffee, but convenience store coffee has evolved considerably in recent years. 

Recently, convenience store smoothies are quite amazing. It is a smoothie that is not in the refrigerator, it’s frozen and completed on the spot. It's a luxury sometimes.
