A lot has happened this week and there are a few things you cannot afford to miss: 1. Farcaster Pro Subscriptions are coming Tuesday. $120 for 1 year. Payable with USDC on Base. An NFT will come with them…eventually. It’s the same art for the first 10,000 subscribers. I do not think we will hit 10,000. We would have fought for 1,000 but the team heard that feedback and expanded it. On day 1, the only thing you get is a badge. It will be purple. Eventually you will get expanded casts length and 4 photos instead of 2, but there is no ETA. The proceeds will go to fund the weekly rewards leaderboard and the developer rewards for mini apps. It’s 100% optional. It will not help your engagement. It will not help your reach. It won’t help your spam label. It won’t help you get verified. It’s to show support for Farcaster and that’s it. Monthly will come later. You can speculate on the value of 10,000 copies of the same NFT art. Think about it and be sure you understand it.

2. New Verifications are coming and they are important. Verification WILL affect how you show up in replies and your engagement/reach and therefore rewards and potentially your airdrops (imagine some teams will only target verified users). You will need to verify 2 out of 3 of the following: phone number, Twitter account older than 18 months, GitHub older than 18 months. Other verifications will come in time. The team heard feedback and said there will also be a category for Farcaster natives who have proven themselves to be good casters. There is little detail here but they did say if you have been earning rewards, there is a good chance you will meet the threshold. This WILL affect your engagement so it’s going to be critical to watch. V has been casting about this the most. It’s changed a lot since the initial announcement so it’s worth reading up on because this will have deep affects on the network.

3. Spam Labels Spam Labels were updated to be binary. Horrid Limbo (Label Level 1) is now gone and the algorithm now sees you as either likely to be spammy or unlikely to be spammy. There is no official guidance on what is “spammy”. The team has sprinkled their thoughts on things that can be considered spammy and I wrote a guide to try to help. The spam algorithm is secret and multifaceted. It’s not one particular behavior but a pattern. Much of the network is labeled as spam. You must avoid getting a spam label at all costs. Being “verified” and being a “pro” user won’t save you from the spam algorithm. Think of these as 3 separate systems. Pro badges show your support and you get a cute purple badge next to your name. Verification tries to establish that you are a user with an established internet history in Web2 or Farcaster. Spam labels show if you understand the culture of Farcaster and can add signal vs adding noise.

Damn, I had no idea about the new verifications... I created an X account just to link it to FC back when it was first released. FC is my longest standing & most active social media account in the space... F in the chat for me I guess. Recently created a Git not that I really know what it is or use it, but on the path to learning more about it. I guess the time will eventually pass and it'll be okay. A million thanks for these informative threads, I always read them top to bottom! 💜
