ITAP of a family ;) I love hunting for these little guys on the grounds of Japanese shrines and temples. This finally is hiding in /kyoto at Shisendō Temple’s moss gardens. The /momiji (red leaves) were extra beautiful on the moss!

@pichi Jizo statues are significant figures in Japanese Buddhism, often depicted as a gentle, serene monk. They are considered protectors of travelers, women, and especially children. Jizo is believed to guide the souls of deceased children, providing comfort to grieving families. These statues are frequently found in cemeteries, roadsides, and temples. They are often dressed in red bibs or hats, which are offerings from parents praying for their children's safety. Over time, Jizo has also become a symbol of hope and solace for many.
