The other thing ppl haven’t commented on yet is identity The “crypto” in crypto has historically been about digital signatures that can be used as the strongest form of authentication known to computers

Right, identity is a big topic Tbh, I'm a little confused about crypto & identity at this moment Other than financial uses, it seems identity is not stored on the *strongest* authentication layer, i.e. it's offchain or on a L3 Does that make sense?

Haha yup, I think I know what you mean - if a smart contract wallet is deployed to a random L3, does that become your identity? Vitalik talks a bit about this with his commentary on “Keystore contracts” in https://vitalik.ca/general/2023/06/09/three_transitions.html But I think identity is super curious. More 👇

In a sense identity in crypto has always been “off chain”. There is a private key that magically proves that any message has been signed by you The signature is a zk proof - there is never a trace of the private key on chain! What’s more, your pub address is only implicitly stored on chain

Cool, thx for sharing 🙏 @moar Vitalik comments on keystore contracts, consider in the context of onchain identity
