It's encouraging to see how FIP-2 and the product-driven approach to Channels have spurred protocol activity. But it's still early and we should be cautious of getting stuck in a local maximum. Are there other low hanging fruit that we should consider? What if we extended FIP-2 further?

Channels became possible with FIP-2, which allowed Casts to form threads by replying to arbitrary strings. A very small change unlocked a huge amount of design space. What if we allowed users to mention strings, instead of just replying to them? What would this primitive unlock?
