I’ve seen a lot of meta-discussion around the issuance adjustment proposal from @ansgar.eth and Caspar, but very little in the way of concrete debate. Maybe Farcaster can be a better place to have a nuanced discussion. https://ethereum-magicians.org/t/electra-issuance-curve-adjustment-proposal/18825

I havent seen a good argument as to why we wont trend to 100% eth staked and why that end state is desirable so for now seems pretty clear some change is needed

cons - affect trust in the monetary policy - might lead to unnecessary debates that take away from general progress of the ecosystem pros - optimize balance btw security and inflation - might lead to more decentralization the proposal seems unnecessary to me.

A big problem is that people focus way too much on this Electra proposal (yes, maybe our own fault). That proposal on its own is not very useful, it really needs the context of the staking endgame discussion. So this is the important post: https://ethresear.ch/t/endgame-staking-economics-a-case-for-targeting/18751

I think this is the most important point to consider: https://ethereum-magicians.org/t/electra-issuance-curve-adjustment-proposal/18825/3 It is worse than just controlling 51%, as they also control a sequencer for an L2, and this creates strong economic pressure to ensure their transaction flows are always prioritized

Imo if there is an adjustment, it needs to be on an extremely long and well signalled timeline (3+ years). LSTs and staking are still young and a lot can happen. For example, an event may make more people realize LSTs are not risk free yield and set us at a lower equilibrium

@hasu has a great rebuttal to the proposal. It'd be nice to bring him into this convo on fc. https://twitter.com/hasufl/status/1775240072754778181
