Occasionally I am overwhelmed with a deep desire to move out of the city and cultivate a patch of land I can call my own. In this dream, I have acres of woods, access to natural running water, and live in harmony with nature, only consuming what I am able to replenish.

I have the same fantasy. I've even researched raising chicken to get eggs and all. The idea of self-sufficiency and not being reliant on the rat race outcomes is hugely appealing.

Had a friend work on a patch of land about 1hr away from MTL to eventually live there. Really interesting to see the blending of old and new tech. For instance, he dug 6ft into the earth to make a greenhouse that was warmed by geothermal energy (via a heat pump). Couldn’t do that in pioneer times!

highly recommend. i moved to the burbs and got lucky with some woods on my property and a little more space than i originally wanted. now im fully homestead-pilled. just sitting on your front step enjoying a coffee and sounds of nature in the am is healing.

We’ve dipped our toes in, found what we like (and don’t), and are recalibrating. We *love* the space and being away, but don’t like having so many obligations that it limits our ability to do other things. Not trying to talk you out of it, just provide a perspective.

💜 Sounds very Walden like. Maybe reading this would scratch the itch. Then, buying a plot somewhere so you can act it out.

I think about this all the time! In my version, I make small batch olive oil and biodynamic wine and spend my time understanding the topography of my land and secrets of the earth to cultivate its max harmonious abubdance. Let’s also throw in a biblical garden for good measure. 🌸

I understand you. I've relocated from the capital to a secluded area, finding that coworking amidst nature at /subwork offers tranquility every day. For me, the trade-off of leaving behind the dust and noise of the city for a peaceful environment is invaluable.

Good aspiration- and even half of that brings happiness. I don’t grow much food but I support local growers. We are all part of community.

You should sign up to Theopetra then. 5000 sq of land close to a river in Colorado. And all that for just 19.99 per month.

We did this few years back. It's been a stressful journey but also gives some weird peace of mind to know we own the land, the water, the heating options not relied on electricity... and the kids will have all this when it's time.
