what's been (or continues to be) Dan/Varun's biggest mistake with Farcaster or Warpcast?

Interesting. Do people not understand that 1) you don’t control your data with traditional social media and 2) you do with FC?

I would think "normies" might understand #1 but not the value or why they'd care.

Fair enough. I’ve often wondered / worried about what will make enough people ‘vote with their feet’ with platforms like FC. Current best think / hope is that *creators* value control of their content. Others will follow the best content. Do consider creators to be normies? 😀

Yes, great point. People will use a platform that has good UX, has content they want, and maaaaaybe aligns with their interests or principles. I think UX/content will trump principles with 90% of normies. So, you're right - attract/educate creators and problem is half solved.

another thought on this - blogging. When blogging really got big (in my world) between like 2006-2012, few, but important, creators saw the value of having their own domain name + wordpress or some self-managed site, and why posting on FB, twitter, angelfire, etc was sub-optimal. Seems similar idea now.
