There was an art convention I did a law/copyright panel at one year, “CozyCon” - I encourage you to take a look at how they run their online convention. It was mainly via Discord and front-end.

It’d be very easy to make a website wrapped into a mini-app and plug in Discord or similar API/SDK for the “crowd” experience.

Then breakout panels over whichever gateway (maybe someone runs a zoom, another room routes to a Discord Stage, etc.) 

Sky’s the limit, I love a good online attended convention program. :)
