Any recommendations for a NAS? No big requirements. Happy to dive into technical rabbit holes. Looking to start with a 5-10TB raid setup. I'm the absolute worst hoarder of photos/videos and refuse to delete anything, so I'd like to setup a more permanent storage setup. Currently, I just have random drives lying around :(

Synology if you want something that just works, otherwise the most common rabbit hole is TrueNAS operating system + power efficient motherboard + chassis + planning ahead for ZFS file system. Both ask you to bring your own drives. The former being more flexible while the latter being more mature of a file system.

I have two servers (technically more) but my main two are truenas set up but my main/fave and that my whole family uses is Synology, stupid easy and I strong enough for a variety of tasks for home server set up
