Destination Colombia: Investment visa considerations

I’ll soon be traveling to Colombia to look at residences, with an emphasis Medellin, "city of eternal spring." I'm also considering Panama, but the places that interest me there are more isolated and less populated (e.g., Boquete; it could take 24 hours to get from Kentucky to Boquete, and a lot can go wrong along the way). In choosing Colombia, I can leave my home in Kentucky and be at a residence in Medellin in eight hours, via Orlando.

Also, I have a plan to secure an investment visa in Colombia. Obviously, I'll have legal counsel in the country to help. I won't be starting a business myself. I have a plan to invest in an existing business, and I'll be meeting with potential partners in the coming months.
