I wonder what people generally think it is they have to do before they die. Live a happy life? Leave behind descendants? Leave a monument of art or wealth or thought? I read Seneca saying there’s really nothing you are expected to do years ago and I’ve been grappling with that since.

Nature dictates you should father children and care for them, if you completed that goal or you're one of those that like to do things differently then it's probably just about doing what feels right to you and maybe care for others

See this one sounds good, but I really can’t get behind it on a fundamental level. Breeding feels like one of those circular reasoning type things that doesn’t have a cogent end. This is coming from someone who has kids btw, and tries to be a good parent.
