If we’re being honest right wingers (and anyone who supports Trump) lose any right to complain about their “unchecked border” when the person they’re voting for gets a bipartisan border bill shut down so he can run on the issue Also, can serious Americans stop galaxy braining themselves into thinking both sides are the same? You guys have ZERO standards and ignore where all of these “distractions” come from. The right CONSTANTLY makes up blatant lies and elevates them until they become a national conversation, and then as soon as people start pushing back enlightened centrists start asking why people aren’t talking about the “real issues”

From my perspective the Dem and GOP sides are basically the same on immigration because despite differences in rhetoric the policy they end up implementing is almost exactly the same: deportations, imprisonment, family separation, blaming the source countries rather than the US policies that caused the problems in the first place, continuing the drug war, and wasting billions on border security. Only the Green Party in the US has a pro-immigrant platform.

TBF rhetoric is still important so that the Overton Window is maintained a little saner, but policy-wise you're right that it's been slowly moving more and more right-wing (anti-immigrant) under Clinton, Bush, Obama, Trump, and Biden.
