the number of phishing attempts within crypto is increasing - and they're getting more sophisticated.

this past week i had someone purporting to be from a well known crypto player firm reach out to multiple people at our company, asking to chat.

i take the call - they book on my calendar with a legit email -

my browser that the site is blocked - which i then tell them. "oh no problem, try this new link" - which would have triggered a download

at this point i recognize what's going on and block them - but it's a good reminder that even a short lapse in judgement could be costly in this space

stay safe out there - always be extremely skeptical of any links - and verify that people are who they say they are!

things got a bit weird a few mins before the call - they messaged on telegram to check if i was joining, which was oddly insistent

then, they ignore the zoom link on our calendar link and mention they use a different system, and send over a new link
