Sometimes I anthropomorphize random objects and feel bad when I throw them away. The lighter when it runs out of fluid. The pair of boots that served me well. The holey socks that I’ve worn for years. It feels like I’m betraying them after all they’ve done for me.

That's how much you get used to old and comfortable things that are difficult to throw away in order to use new ones.
