big question: does this get better or worse with permissionless protocols and open data?

I don't see how a permissionless protocol will have any influence on this.

In fact it might actually only make it worse, since a lot of way worse things can be posted, shared and made viral.

Open data also makes it easier for bot creators to create better bots that are harder to detect for the given open algorithm.

Bots are one of the hardest problems that cannot be solved even by the biggest corporations today.

Permissionless protocol doesn’t have any measures in place to prevent bots from signing up
