Classroom of the Elite This is probably a pretty biased review since this is the first ever LN I've read. I got into this LN because I enjoyed the 1st season of the anime, so I picked up this LN because I got curious. I've always hated reading books and preferred Anime and Manga before because I couldn't understand why a bunch of words and texts could entertain people. But after I finished the 1st-4th volume of this series I can say it is surprisingly enjoyable, even more than the anime itself. I finished the entire 1-year arc in a few months and they are all really good. I can finally understand why some people say the source material is always better than the adaption. So if you're looking for a reading material as a first time reader, I'd recommend this series, it's very enjoyable, easy to read and can keep you entertained.

A Silent Voice While I feel the story deserves a 10, I must acknowledge that it is more or less what can be expected when one thinks of Slice of Life. That still doesn't do anything to decrease the utter risks this manga takes with its story. It goes to great bounds to reflect the countless issues that surface from bullying and the lasting effects it can have on people. Not only that, but a huge undeying message is that no matter how a person acts, there is always something beneath that facade that people would be shocked to find. Including many sensitive topics such as suicide and how fake most friendships are, this manga takes it all and throws together a beautiful tale of a young man trying to right the countless wrongs he committed in the past while trying to find what it truly means to have a "friend". https://myanimelist.net/manga/56805/Koe_no_Katachi

GTO: Great Teacher Onizuka A very chaotic and grand story with many feels, silliness and thoughts. I watched the Anime maybe 10 years ago and if I remember correctly even re-watched it at some point, but I also remember a bit unsatisfying with how the Anime ended and thus once again if I remember correctly after finishing the Manga. The point where Anime ended didn't continue in the Manga, which is why I added the Manga initially to PTR. Anyhow, back to story. It's great. A very interest approach to school setting with rather heavy focus on delinquents, bullying, family matters, growth of children that because of the issues, create another issues. And this Manga rather heavy on the whole aspect of bullying, violence and the mental issues characters have for various reasons. Also I absolutely adore how the teacher of this Manga reforms the kids, who himself was similar to. https://myanimelist.net/manga/336/GTO

Ashita no Joe: Fighting for Tomorrow At the core Ashita no Joe is a character driven drama about Joe himself, people around him and they they go through their difficult lives. As such I don't you can't talk about story without talking about characters and you can't talk much about characters without spoiling manga. What I can say though is that impressive how much nuance the main cast has. Aside from some supporting characters that don't play a large part in the story everyone has a very believable multifaceted personality and over the course of their arc you learn about who they are, how they act and how they change as well as what causes it. It's a long, difficult and a very tragic story in a way that's not immediately obvious or rather it's never thrown in your face. https://myanimelist.net/manga/1303/Ashita_no_Joe

20th Century Boys This manga is truly a masterpiece. The most beautiful thing about 20th Century Boys is in its telling of story. The basis of the story is "Saving the World" which is simple enough, however the author manages to make this deeper, much deeper. From the moment you pick up this manga and being reading you will be engrossed . The seamless flashbacks and general mysterious feel about the story will keep you wanting more, you'll wish it didn't have to end. Aside from the story the art is magnificent. The author manages to capture emotion and set tone and mood not only in the dialogue but also in his drawings. You can see clearly the angst, sorrow, despair, or happiness drawn in, which in my opinion does a great deal to get emotionally involved with the characters. https://myanimelist.net/manga/3/20th_Century_Boys

Kingdom As you've probably read the synopsis for the Kingdom manga already, you've realized it sounds simple and not as enticing, but you're completely wrong! Kingdom completely expands then blows away those expectations you had for the manga in general. The story consists of multiple Chinese based wars and a shifts in internal politics and in which each war plays an important role for the progression of the story which is critical in this manga. This manga also brings no irrelevant factors in anything such as "Power ups" or "Shonen like features", this is a near realistic manga that relies on real old war tactics in order to succeed, but the author mixes those tactics with a new kind of complex offensive tactics that will highly surprise you! Though there may be a bit of supernatural features, it actually makes complete sense in the plot and even creates conflicts once those "supernatural beings" appear. https://myanimelist.net/manga/16765/Kingdom

Lord of Mysteries An extremely well-planned story, you could tell the author planned and incorporated many aspects and plot points in this novel beforehand, an act not done frequently with other web novel authors. There are many foreshadowed elements that one could pick up on a reread. The build up of each volume is truly amazing, with plot twists being well orchestrated. There are some pacing issues that are quite evident especially in earlier volumes, but they serve to elevate and immerse the reader into the vast and complex world of LOTM. There's humorous, joyous, emotional, and mind-blowing scenes that inadvertently make you praise the author. The main criticism I have for it (if it could be considered one) is that It's definitely not an easy and smooth read. https://myanimelist.net/manga/162032/Guimi_Zhi_Zhu

Fullmetal Alchemist Fullmetal Alchemist is one of the most innovative manga I've ever had the pleasure of reading. The concept of Alchemy itself was a superb idea, and in its nine-year run, there has never been a single wasted pages from Arakawa-sensei. The plot was developed with utmost detail into what is arguably one of the deepest and most engaging storylines to ever grace itself to us Manga fans. There is practically no fillers chapters at all, unlike most other shounen manga to reach this calibre of popularity. Also, the entire storyline has been perfectly planned out and stayed linear for the entire nine-year run, a staggering feat when you compare it to other Mangas in the same genre. If you read this manga from start to finish, you will be amazed at the coherency of the chapters and the inter-relations. You won't think that this was drawn over nine years, more like one long movie shown from start to finish. https://myanimelist.net/manga/25/Fullmetal_Alchemist
