and we also underestimated once again people voting against their own interest - 57% of voters voted to roll back the abortion ban in FL (needed 60%) while simultaneously voting for the person responsible for said ban 🤔

Fwiw I think this will come up again and again until it's legalized. Bubbling up from the states is good for a healthy republic. 7 states passed it last night.

Didn’t they just mess up how they worded that? That should have passed but I assumed the reading around abortion being an option up until the moment before birth was the culprit for that not passing

so much political data games consists of analysts trying to map people onto some simplistic analysis or framework but people stay far weirder and deviate all the time from expectations would love to meet the guys voting for abortion rights and minimum wage referendums + trump in a deep red state the american mind wins again

could it be that they had other more compelling interests? i didn’t follow FL closely but this sounds like the abortion ban didn’t inspire enough single-issue voters
