inside me there are two wolves used to strongly believe the later, but am increasingly sympathetic to the former curious to hear from @betashop.eth and @dwr.eth as their respective strategies seem to embody these two poles

It depends. :) If Farcaster was about selling to developers, then we would likely be at these events. But the product we're selling to developers is qDAU, so need to figure that out first. Otherwise you'll just have a bunch of developers churn. The developers building on Farcaster today are built different. :)

i think most events are a total waste of time for founders, and should be avoided like the plague when you are in build mode the only events i find valuable -- and only as a b2b service for developers -- is hackathons, as it provides for rapid use case exploration and feedback cycles

I'm in the middle. And the best way, from my experience, is to have a strong online presence, which makes it super easy to meet people at conferences. So if you're having a podcast, blog or are just an active Twitter/FC users, you can get 10X more out of the conference than as an anon attendee.

Have found local meetups/HHs to be a pretty nice middle ground if you're able to find quality ones. Highly recommend the Gauntlet ones if you're in LA.

I’m more in the middle: conferences are usually a waste of time, but sometimes leads to unexpected opportunities that can change trajectories.
