Agree with this take. In some cases, funding is the *only* viable path to hosting a channel. 

As a self-employed freelancer I price my time in billable hours, so I don't have the time flexibility to take on host duties on a volunteer basis. 

Awhile ago I declined a request to serve as a channel lead for this reason.
