Iāve read terrifying accounts of sleep paralysis and the attendant feelings of oppression and supernatural presence they elicit. Thankfully, Iāve never experienced it. What I have experienced, on the other hand, is waking up in the dark and āfor a short whileā having zero recollection of where I am. The bed is unfamiliar, the room is strange, my muscle memory is helpless at locating the light switch, etc. The feeling of disorientation and vulnerability is unsettling. Though thatās just coming from traveling all the time and staying at so many hotels that they just become a forgettable blur at some point

I had not! However I did read an article once about how firefighters and paramedics would get into road accidents when responding to emergencies after napping, and I guess it might be related (the brain taking a while to come out of sleep and restoring full alertness)
