absolutely! Signal's is basically just a kind of annoying popup. You can dismiss it but it continues to popup until you answer it, then it disappears for some period of time (two months? I don't pay enough attention)

Definitely want to make it a nonblocking exercise. If I'm out and about and don't have access to the secured storage of my seed phrase, I'd not want to be blocked from transacting.

That said, it'd be a good way to exercise recovery process viability.

I think I've seen this done somewhere... Maybe it was just in a mockup.
