Having lived in Costa Rica, USA, UK and Germany in the last 10 years: Europe is humane. US is paranoia that you will end up in a lower class. Third world is struggling to just make ends meet and lives on high combative energy.

So I agree with @antonio 1000%. Also, UK behaves like an island in the middle of the Atlantic. So it has more American psyche than it should due to its geographical proximity to “the continent”

As a fellow SAmerican, both discourses (europoor/america brutality) sounds as a false appreciation. It’s more or less when you’re mad with your spouse but in public you defend not matter what. After living in US/EU my impression is that everyone is coping instead to celebrate and work on the fix/build things.

Agree, one must be optimistic at an individual level. Though, what we are describing is the zeitgeist of each place, and so the zeitgeist will eventually affect the thought of the builders and on the solutions we focus on. The types of problems I would solve in each country I have lived in are all different.

Being in all German states and seeing the reality on the ground it’s hard to believe that folks from mid-Thüringen/Schleswig are doing better than folks on Idaho/Montana/Arkansas. Noah hits out of the park on why that europoor discourse is bad. https://www.noahpinion.blog/p/economic-losses-for-our-allies-are

I don’t which point we disagree on. I don’t believe for europoor meme. USA just has absurdly high reference McMansion lifestyle due to runaway competition. USA is doing worse in infra, quality of life, drug crisis vs Northern Europe. The article does mention ruin a caveat which is southern Europe.
