free web3 startup idea: let me easily write an encrypted note with each Metamask transaction. Trying to go back during tax season and remember why I sent 0.0069 eth to some random wallet is a nightmare.

Unless it was saved in your wallet, there’d need to be a separate service to accept these notes, but also you’d need a separate key to do the encryption.

There does not exist a security proof that using the same key for signing and (in the case of asymmetric keys like EC keys) diffie-hellman is secure. It _might_ be, for some kinds of elliptic curves, but not all elliptic curves are equal, and you can potentially open yourself up to different attacks by doing so.
