Continuing yesterday's post. Did you know that in various mythologies (Norse, Greek and others) ice is a symbol of death? But it gives us water to drink and becomes the source of life.

For example, in Norse mythology, the world begins from Audhumla, a cow born from frost. It seems to be a very good metaphor for a glacier. If someone has ever seen what water flows out from under a glacier, they have noticed that it is not transparent but cloudy gray, white. Like a cow's milk.
Can we say that this mythical cow feeds rivers, lakes, irrigates fields?

Glacial rivers play a life-giving role in many countries. The nations of Pakistan, India, Nepal, Bangladesh are largely dependent on these waters.
