Glory days are always behind us, it would seem. ;-)

I haven’t experienced that yet, but I can imagine that situation would stir up all kinds of complex, and hidden, thoughts or feelings.

Not unlogical as you build a new place to call home somewhere else.

However, I recently had to clean out both houses from my grandparents and that felt weird and kinda give a longing for that place in it's glory days. While I never had that before when it was still in it's glory days.

Moral of the story, the feeling comes back when it's gone¿

Going home to stay with your parents is always an experience. Old patterns sneakily emerge, as if part of you was sucked through a time machine.

My parents moved houses when I was in college, so it’s not my childhood home, but I spend Thanksgiving in the same town I grew up in. It’s a small, wooded town, only 30 minutes from a major city but more rural than suburban.

Besides a path through a nearby forest, there’s nothing I can walk to. Part of the reason I wanted to live in New York was how trapped I felt as a teenager, needing to drive 20 minutes to see anyone or do anything. I swear against owning a car; my parents built an additional garage.
