What is Farcaster’s pitch to people who don’t care about decentralization or cryptocurrency?

i tell people "imagine twitter but it's mostly tech founders, vc, developers, or people interested in crypto" which then turns them off

whatever your interests—board games, cooking, podcasts, politics, edm, etc, there’s a community of people talking about it to meet, and unique / fun apps built around those interests that all share an underlying social graph. crypto does not need to be part of that pitch. reality is we’re not quite there yet tho.

I think it has to be channels and potentially frames/cast actions, but we don’t have compelling experiences built on those yet

you don’t pitch to people who do not care about decentralization or cryptocurrency. pitch to those who are trying to build an audience aka a new generation of influencers. they are the ones who are likely to care about decentralization. let them bring the normal people. let go of the current generation of influencers. don’t focus on them. they are not going to rebuild their entire audience here again. crypto folks may try to build their audience here. but outside that, no, not gonna happen. it’s like migrating to a new undiscovered country for the first time. it’s a new country, new leaders, new rules, new culture etc. it inevitably gives rise to a new crop of influencers/creators.

"there's distinct quality here because many others post differently & thoughtfully; the provenance being invaluable for certain speech." the other pitch vs some golden handcuffs might be that traditional social media is forgettable & noisy, and the impressions may be overstated vs one's content creation & distribution method. either way it's wordy, so let's just say "it gets more awesome over time".

Warpie is migrating the Twitter community to Warpcast with free invite links! We like to tell them it's a great place to establish an early presence where you won't get drown out by the noise on Twitter ! Also, the founders consistently engage and interact, always receiving feedback, always building !

It’s the beginning of a social operating system. Just like you can install many apps on a Mac or Windows device and they can all access your data, same is true with Farcaster/Lens/Zora/etc and your social data. Photoshop can access all files on your PC, and in the same way every app here (Scoop, @frenpet , @drakula , Warpcast, @super , @moshicam etc), can access all of your social data.
