Founder of Telegram: Our goal is to protect people from corrupt governments

Pavel Durov, the founder and CEO of Telegram, announced that this messenger was created to protect activists and ordinary people from corrupt governments. He emphasized that the basic principles of Telegram have not changed, but since 2018, this platform provides the authorities with the information of criminals if legally requested. Durov said Telegram has responded to more than 200 legal requests in Brazil and about 7,000 requests in India this year. The comments come after Durov's arrest in France in August and concerns about changes to Telegram's privacy policies.
