China surpassed Starlink with the first full-fledged 5G connection in space: for the first time, a video call was made from a satellite to a regular smartphone. Scientists from the Chinese Satellite Network Group (China Sat Net) have successfully conducted the world's first 5G video call directly from a satellite to a standard smartphone. The experiment was conducted in May 2025 using the Guowang Satellite Network, a project that involves launching about 13,000 satellites and is a direct competitor to SpaceX's Starlink. The special feature of this achievement is that the connection was implemented using the international 5G NTN (Extraterrestrial Network) standard, that is, the smartphone was connected to the satellite using the same protocols as to terrestrial 5G networks - without the need for special equipment or modified devices.

Oracle has announced the largest artificial intelligence deal in history. The company is investing about $40 billion in the purchase of Nvidia chips and the construction of a new open data center in the United States. This center will be located in Abilene, Texas, and its energy consumption will be 1.2 gigawatts, which roughly corresponds to the amount of energy consumed by a million homes in America. The infrastructure is based on the latest Nvidia GB200 Grace Blackwell processors. Each chip combines two B200 accelerators and a 72-core central processor, and also contains built-in artificial intelligence modules for diagnostics and acceleration of data processing. Their main advantage is energy efficiency. Compared to the previous generation of Nvidia chips, they consume 25 times less energy at a similar load. TSMC is engaged in manufacturing using the advanced 5nm N4P process technology.

For the first time, scientists have confirmed the existence of "mirrors of time" — a phenomenon in which waves are not reflected in space, but unfold in time. This discovery, published in the journal Nature Physics, was carried out by a team from New York led by Dr. Hussein Musa, who changed the properties of the metamaterial so that the signal goes back in time. The essence of the effect is as if you threw a ball, and it bounced not off the wall, but directly into your hand, as if there was no throw. This became possible due to a sharp and precise change in the resistance (impedance) of the system, which was previously considered impossible in the presence of energy sources. This is not time travel, but a new physical reality that can change communication technologies, sensors, photonic devices, and even the approach to information storage. Scientists are already planning experiments with other types of waves and larger-scale systems.
