GE i’ve shifted from a naive globalist to a staunch American patriot over the last 2 years. i’m not an imperialist but i would deffo build systems to protect our way of life and world view - liberty, education, and social mobility. we have our issues to iron out but i believe in us maybe a spicy take idk

Honest blunt respectful feedback: the problem in this is that "our way of life" is a bit of a shit show in the sense that there are SO many people living a pretty dreadful life in America. So, if you are saying you want to protect a great lifestyle for the top 1% (IDK what's the right threshold) then, it feels off

I'm not sure who you are thinking of protecting against, but my sense is that we, globally, should start (re)thinking about (re)building together, rather than the mostly zero-sum-game it is today. Of course, this is a utopian vision, but I'm pretty sure there is a lot we can do to get there.

100% and ty for replying. exactly my blind spot :) umm naively as an everyday person i feel worried about China and Russia mostly as a threat to global trade and energy

i’m sure many other countries feel this way about the US. my perspective is definitely being affected by reading Chip War where i’m learning about how important semiconductors and their supply chain is for modern life, and how precarious that chain is

Yes. The media relay the information flow that amplify their political beliefs and benefits them, and fear makes media business much more money which they can't go out off (if you start making lots of money with fear, you can't stop spreading it otherwise you'll make much less money versus other media who still do).

I think the chip war is important in many respects. 1. because it is real, 2. because it has long term repercussions (such as strengthening China long-term), 3. it shows the slowly changing world order. But overall, individually, we should stay focus on what we can really control and change.
