In fiction, a crisis is rapid, cataclysmic, final in some way. Crisis in the real world is extended and indeterminate. Often the beginning is unclear, and it takes a while before the full magnitude of events even becomes apparent. Crisis in the real world is surprisingly, frustratingly slow.
