I’m doing more normie interviews (e.g. ABC, Bloomberg, etc.) now and I’m trying to get non-crypto people excited about crypto apps they might be using in the next 2-5 years. Obvious ones I use are stablecoins, NFTs for tickets, opening up gaming economies. But what are some others I should be highlighting?

Stating the obvious here lol but social media! Farcaster and other blockchain based social networks solve the problems inherent to existing, corporate social media platforms- Difficultly balancing free speech and censorship, prioritizing corporate interests over those of their users, and not allowing the creators who are generating all the value for these platforms to own their audience or their content. When users own their identity and social graph, social network lock in goes away, so apps (like warpcast) have to work harder to retain users.

Being able to send USDC on Base for less than $.01 and have it be received by your family/friend in seconds is a big one for me. Trying to pay my landlord rent via Zelle I ran into all sorts of limits despite having a well tenured Chase account. If they accepted USDC it would be cheaper for them and easier for me.

Crypto the game! A survivor like experience that you get to immerse yourself in. Personally think it gets crazier from here.

I think that in the next 2-5 years, the most frequently used web3 applications by the normies will be the boring but essential ones. For example, single sign-on with a crypto wallet will eliminate the need to remember passwords. Cryptographic signatures will secure important documents like loans, medical records, education certificates, and leases. Digital IDs, protected by cryptography, will enable on-chain voting. On-chain global supply chain management will increase customer trust in the origins of their groceries and restaurant ingredients. Etc. Etc.

PoolTogether is a classic — novel savings technology I always watch Party because while today what it’s being used for is eh, I think it’s powerful to be able to control money as a group / group bank accounts Crypto technology for proof of humanity — Worldcoin, but also EAS https://docs.attest.org/

Have you checked out /basepaint yet? I'm biased 300+ unique works of cc0 art (basepaint.xyz/gallery), about $1.3M distributed to ~3,000 artists TLDR: it's collaborative pixel art w/ frictionless revshare between everyone who paints.
