this was a fun experiment, more than 300 users opened my frame, around 30 spent money buying lives, and around 40 were banned (for being rude or trying to jailbreak)

@eloisee reached the end in a couple of hours, and after reading the chats she definitely has rizz, no cheating involved

I still think farcaster is the best place to iterate on ideas with frames right now, as a mobile dev the time it takes to develop an mvp and get it to testflight isn't even comparable to spinning up a nextjs mini app

this was experiment #1, I'll be back in a couple of weeks with experiment #2, this time using an actual game engine

mini apps are the perfect way for people that dont know how to code to figure out their first steps

where are you stuck?

some recommendations:

1) dont use vercel or nextjs. start your apps as simple react apps (use vite) and learn how to think in terms of components. lego blocks. you need to learn how to place them next to each other working as you want them to work. deploy on /orbiter

2) test in production. deploying a smart contract on base costs 0.2 usd. or maybe less. it has been way better for me to just deploy the V0 of the contract and plug it to the mini app and then figure out the rest of its iterating for next versions

3) ask questions on the feed. the more details the better. we used to use stack overflow for answering programming questions. you learned how to code by googling your problem and finding the SO article associated with it. now with LLMs and active people on the feed its much closer to just ask. i like when people ask things. and they dont do it enough imho

4) be very curious

my first non-crypto app just launched on the App Store!

a close friend of mine has a neurodivergent kid and told me there were no apps like this, so I took it as an opportunity to play with WebGPU in react native

new skills acquired:
- IAP with revenuecat and paywalls
- onboarding best practices
- App Store screenshots best practices
- ASO (already ranked top 100 for "neurodivergent")

I really want to start my next mini app idea, but sora image gen is so good that I need to arbitrage that, so for the next couple of weeks I'll be heads down working on a native app with these new skills as the foundation

Building @warpcast and @farcaster / dad / like to read, cook, ski, code

mini apps will be big and this will come in handy
